In this video, he will teach you what a behavioral interview is, and more importantly, how to use the STAR technique to provide high-scoring answers!

Behavioral interview questions, which are sometimes referred to as situational or competency-based interview questions, assess your ability to perform the key duties of a manager effectively and competently.

Behavioral interview questions usually start off with:
“Describe a time when you…?”
“Tell me about a time when you…?”
“Explain a situation when you…?”

HOW TO USE THE STAR TECHNIQUE TO ANSWER BEHAVIORAL INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
– Start off and explain the SITUATION you were in.
– Describe the TASK that needed to be done.
– Explain in detail the ACTION you took.
– Reveal the (positive) RESULTS of your actions.

    These answers are WAYYYY TO LONG & are of NO help because you talk SO MUCH that not only is it hard to soak in everything your saying & talking about but ppl lose interest after a while cause this video is soooo long & boring!!!!!

    Behavioral questions are the worst. They don't provide any context on the candidate's ability to do the job. As long as they come up with something believable and can barf it out using decent English, you will get the job. However, are they a good fit for the future job? Nobody knows.

    Hello Richard, I would like to thank you for all the help and support you are giving to people who are in need of a job and have no clue of how to start preparing for the interviews or answering some really tough questions which you have covered up in your series. I have never seen a variety of questions and answers that you have uploaded for all job-seeking individuals from various job fields and I truly appreciate your hard and smart work.
    However, I would like you to make a minor correction for the answer to Q-When have you used effective leadership skills at work?'. I suggest that in the last paragraph 'TEA' should be replaced by 'Team' else everything is perfect.
    Please don't take this wrong, I do understand that mistakes do happen and this one is of course very small and it's understood by everyone. But I am looking from a different perspective. Since your answers are up to the mark and easy to follow, this small error can be very irritating and hence I suggest an amendment.
    I will leave it up to you to decide and I will respect that. Thank you very much to keep us guiding and stand out in this world of competition with your perfect answers.

    Good Morning Richard, I had my second interview today and even if selected as a Director would turn it down. My company has often created internal positions knowing good and well they have someone in mind to fill it. This Associate Director position posted was for someone with call center experience even though the position description did not state this. The interview went well and I was thanked for my experience gained in the military and my personal growth. I hope the people who watch your videos understand that it’s not always them. Some companies have people already in mind. In this case, I found out there were three… but I love you cousin who’s abroad thanks again I killed the interview.. just hate they wasted my time … keep up the great work

    Great videos! I'm preparing for a Manager job that I technically used to do in a Supervisor title role 3 years ago; moving me back under my old director. I chose to step away at the time due to personal reasons and left in good terms. What different type of questions do you think I can expect or do you have videos for this scenario?

    Dear Richard McMunn, thank you so much for sharing your experience as its informative and well structured. I am a Senior Fire Fighter working for the City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue services in South Africa, Cape Town. I applied for a Platoon Commanders position and the interview is schedule for in the next few days. Of what I can understand the interview will consist of behavioral questions specific to our organization. Question will range from, conflict resolution, stressful situations, delegation powers, bypassing safety to meet a specific goal , planning and prioritizing. Past: Next, provide a brief overview of your past experience and accomplishments that led you to your current role. Focus on the skills and experiences that are most relevant to the job you’re applying for.

Plans: Finally, talk about your career goals and how they align with the position you’re interviewing for. This demonstrates your enthusiasm for the role and shows that you’re thinking long-term.

Tailoring Your Introduction to the Job
While the Present-Past-Future structure provides a solid foundation, it’s crucial to tailor your introduction to the specific job and company. Research the company’s mission, values, and recent achievements, and weave this information into your response. This demonstrates that you’ve done your homework and are genuinely interested in the company.

Dos and Don’ts of Introducing Yourself in an Interview
Dos:

Be Concise: Keep your answer to about 1-2 minutes. This is enough time to highlight key points without losing the interviewer’s attention.

Focus on Professional Achievements: While it’s okay to briefly mention personal interests if they’re relevant, your focus should be on your professional background.

Practice: Rehearse your introduction so that it flows naturally, but avoid sounding rehearsed. Aim for a conversational tone.

Stay Positive: Frame your experiences and transitions in a positive light, even if you’ve faced challenges or setbacks.
Don’ts:

Don’t Recite Your Resume: Your introduction should complement your resume, not duplicate it. Use this opportunity to provide context and narrative to your career progression.
